Has anyone tried to convert sound files that play on the Mactoy to play on the NeXT? I can't (easily) find documentation of how those files are formatted on the Mac but I know that direct transfer doesn't work. I've also tried "sndconvert -r filename" but get noise. This may be due to my failure to know for sure how to generate raw data from the Mac. A friend suggests that the problem stems from the Mac using 8 bit while the Next uses 16 bit formatting. I'm posting this because I suspect that someone out there has already gone through this exercise. We have a lot of Mac sound files and not nearly as many NeXT sound files. You can either post answers (if you don't already get fed up looking through hundreds of entries) or e-mail and I will post summary at some future date. Also, has anyone had trouble getting the .logout file to play after executing "dwrite loginwindow LogoutHook .logout"? This method works for .login (LoginHook). Anybody know what to dwrite to run extra files with things like floppy disk ejection? Thanks, in advance, to all responses.
