[comp.sys.next] NeXTDimension for Multimedia

lee@pipe.cs.wisc.edu (Soo Lee) (05/17/91)

Hi NeXTers. I have a good news for you, especially Multimedia application
lovers. I just found a paper stating many "Next"(one is spelled as "Nexr", but
it is a typo) and NeXTStep! It is in IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications,
pp.20-27, May 1991. Dr. R. L. Phillips from Los Alamos National Laboratory
is the author of the paper, "Interpersonal Multimedia Visualization System".
In architectural detail, he showed very fine example of using the way of
built-in objects. Also he seems very positive toward NeXT software and hardware
implementations over other platforms. Anyway, Kudos to Dr. Phillips!
Enjoy the paper and cheer up the NeXTDimension!

For his work in the area multimedia publication systems on the NeXT,
Dick Phillips is a nominee for a 1991 ComputerWorld Smithsonian
Award in the area of "Mixed Media" for his work on MediaView.

MediaView

MediaView, a powerful new computer software package, is a general multimedia
digital publication system offering a variety of functions that allow a user to
interact with a living document. This document can include several forms of
notation and elements of animation, sound and live video. MediaView capitalizes
on the incomparable synergy that results from integrating several complementary
media in a single document.
