*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH A TIRE WALL *** I can tell from many of the postings that there are many racing fans out there and perhaps a few that might actually race. I am interested in finding out how many of you race or have raced in some organized manner (sorry, Saturday night on a country road isn't what I mean). I myself have never done any racing, but have often toyed with the idea now that my old student loans are finally getting paid off, so I would appreciate hearing about personal experiences you might have in any class from go-karts on up. I guess the main things I would like to know are: - What class? (i.e. go-karts, formula fords, Sports Renault, etc) - Where do you race? - What is the sanctioning body,if any? (local clubs, SCCA, etc) - How did you get involved? Did you do anything like drivers' school? What was your first exposure to racing? - How much money would one need to spend to race this class? - Any other issues you might talk about to a prospective racer (insurance? technical expertise required? etc) I would prefer to receive e-mail, rather than responses posted to the net, but if there is enough interest, I will post a summary (with no names attached). Thanks in advance, Chuck Slana AT&T Information Systems Naperville, IL email: ..!ihnp4!ihu1e!slana editorial p.s.: it greatly disappoints me to see my favorite newgroup turning into a forum for rabbit-bashing. If you think a car sucks, fine, don't buy it. As a recent new-car buyer, I can relate to someone posting an article about a car that they think is the best thing on wheels, but I can't understand why others feel it their obligation to tell them they drive s***. No, I have never owned a vw, but why bother posting what I did buy? I'm sure someone out there would just reply that its a piece of crap, anyway.
