Having gone to the Chicago Auto Show last week in quest of a new car to purchase this spring, among other things I received a case of confusion and a bad case of sticker shock! Boy, are cars more expensive in 1986 than in 1982 when I bought my current car. Anyway, I think I have narrowed the field down to 3 very nice (if somewhat expensive) cars. The Pontiac 6000 STE, Audi 4000S, and the Merkur XR4Ti. What I am seeking is information from owners of 1985 or 1986 models of these cars on: performance (0-60, cornering, braking, etc.), interior design and finish, exterior finish, what you really like, what you wish would be improved. Also, how much did you get the dealer to hack off of the price and how well does the car handle snow and wet conditions. (Living in Chicago and driving to Detroit often requires and car that can handle snow and wet roads). Please send mail because opinions have been blasted in this news group lately (settle down - it's a joke). Thanks from a confused car nut! Chris Donahue AT&T Info. Sys. Application Engineering
