After being told by a few people that the Apple Scanner is, in fact, of Cannon/Abaton/Everex (whew!) origin, I decided to go ahead and plug it into my 040 Cube. During the Boot process, I got a large number of SCSI errors. May 28 14:34:41 next mach: s0 (4,1): ERROR op:0x0 sd_state:4 scsi status:0x2 May 28 14:34:41 next mach: sc: MESSAGE REJECT RECEIVED May 28 14:34:41 next mach: sc: MESSAGE REJECT RECEIVED That repeated itself for each SCSI LUN (1-7). Then, I ran SCSIInquirer, and it said that I have an Apple Scanner and told me its serial number. Having no scanning software, this is where my tests ended. I did try to access the Scan panel from Scene, but that caused the program to die. The console message was simply something about Microtek Firmware Version x.x. I assume that message came from Scene, and not from the Apple Scanner. If anyone has any other fun ideas to try, let me know. Until then, I'll keep scanning/OCRing on the Mac and using the tried and true ftp! MikeC -- --------------------------------------------------------- Michael D.
