Many times I wished that I could read the old csn stuff without wading through all the crud. Many times I wished that someone would re-arrange this information so that it was useful, or at least more accessible to Librarian. Well, I did it. I have uploaded three files to sonata (sonata.cc.purdue.edu) 1989.squfold 1990.squfold 1991.squfold. As well, I've uploaded UnSquashOnly, whcih you will need to expand these archives. These are squashed folders. Within each folder is the entire year's comp sys next, one thread per file. A thread was delimited by subject line. E.g. if someone changed the Subject line, a new thread started. (Re:'s didn't count) I also stripped out the signature files, or at least most of them. Any line that was duplicated exactly was removed. (The first copy was left, subsequent copies deleted.) This may break code fragments. Most headers other than Date, From, Subject, and Keywords were also stripped out. Each file has for a name csn_<subject line with spaces replaced with _> If you don't have it, you will aslo need to download UnSquashOnly to uncompress these archives. Note: 1991 in particular is big. Uncompressed is over 10 megs in something like 2500 files. Unpack this where you want it. Next gets it's shorts in a knot over moving thousands of files at a time. 1991 is current through April. I will post the next update for it in early july. Comments & suggestions appreciated.
