I'd like to thank all the folks who responded to my "I clobbered /dev/cua" post. By general concensus: mknod /dev/cua c 11 192 chown uucp.wheel /dev/cua chmod 600 /dev/cua and delete /usr/spool/uucp/LCK/LCK.cua. However, after doing this (actually the LCK file didn't exist, which meant I actually did exit kermit earlier) kermit still wouldn't talk via /dev/cua to my modem. Neither could I use /dev/ttya. So, I suspect my A serial port is bad. (This wouldn't be unreasonable. I had some quirky behavior prior to this event. In my ignorance, I attributed it to instabilities in bash. ???) Anyhow my local tech rep is investigating. I hope I don't have to transport my Cube AGAIN (I think it likes car rides). Any further advice would be appreciated. I should have mentioned in my recent post that kermit and the B serial port get along just fine. Don
