[comp.sys.next] Anyone experienced with mouse-X or Co-Xist?

btaplin@silver.ucs.indiana.edu (Brad Taplin) (06/09/91)

Dear NeXT people,

I am now saving pennies for a NeXTstation 400 and an X11R4
programmer's devel package. X is not a first love so spare
me the flames. It's merely a saleable skill and those of us
in relative poverty think about that sort of thing. OK now...

What I need is software that makes the NeXT a good, complete
development platform for X11R4 with OSF/Motif or OPEN LOOK.
OSF/Motif has been in use by a very congenial correspondent
for a number of months in the form of mouse-X for the NeXT.

But as isn't mouse-X is still in beta? I need more than one
review. Also, what are users' opinions of co-Xist? The only
info I have is that it exists in a relatively complete form.
I want to know HOW WELL it does X11R4 with either toolset.

Finally, will Borland C++ work on a NeXT with the proper
existing emulator? It would be nice to develop for and test
in both DOS and UNIX at the same time. Please minimize the
DOS flames as well. There are imperfect platforms out there.

:)
