OK, so the Susan part's just a come on, I'm really looking for information on BLOCS/M (the Berkeley Library of Objects for Control and Simulation of Manufacturing). I have read the chapter by Glassey and Adiga in Wiener and Pinson and have had my curiousity kindled. I understand it's written in Objective-C and was designed for Shop Floor control simulation, but I don't know what real life use it may have seen since that article was published. I'd be curious about the current state of the library and accompanying research effort (assuming that is has one), especially as it regards integration into wider, non-simulation based systems, e.g. quality/SPC, planning/JIT/MRP, even cost accounting, (yuck!) et al. Actually, I'm interested in object-oriented applications of manufacturing systems anyway and would like to hear from anyone who has an interesting (that's the opposite of mundane) product or object library which deals with these issues. Please reply via e-mail and I'll post a summary, assuming that there is suffient interest. -- Ronald V. Simmons memphis!rvs@uunet.uu.net -- Ronald V. Simmons memphis!rvs@uunet.uu.net
