[comp.sys.next] "Cannot Eject Disk: Device Busy" -- AARGH

das15@cunixa.cc.columbia.edu (Douglas A Scott) (06/11/91)

I have an 030 Cube running 2.1. Tonight I am trying to eject the OD from the
drive and am getting the that most annoying of messages, as indicated in the
title. So I go through the usual machinations of typing "cd" in every window
(though that wasnt the problem), killing off Edit and Librarian (also not the
problem this time), killing off everything except one Terminal and my
Preferences (still no good). So I look at all the processes to see if
anything is listed as still accessing a file on the OD, and nothing seems to
be.

My question: is there a way (either through Unix or something on the NeXT) to
determine which process is keeping the OD "busy"? Sometimes even logging out
wont eject it, and I have to power down to get rid of the nasty thing.

Has anybody else dealt with this?
Thanks in advance!
