Before I went on a ski trip last Christmas, I replaced the original wiper blades on my '84 Scirocco (which regularly gets its butt kicked by my friend's '85 5.0 liter 5-speed Mustang GT) with ANCO 2516 (rear) and 2518 (front) replacement blades. DON'T BUY THEM! THEY AREN'T WORTH SH*T! When it rains, they leave streaks on the windshield worse than my old rotting blades ever did. They also leave black marks across the windshield and especially at the endpoints of their travel. The blade assembly is a cheap piece of stamped metal, flimsy and they're probably going to fall apart at then end of this week's storms. I'm sure the decomposing wiper blade is going to separate from the arm at any time. I saved the old blade assembly (made by SWF? Bosch?) and bought some Bosch blade refills at a ridiculous price from the VW dealer. Bottom line: ANCO SUCKS!!! I can't believe they sell that sh*t. Has anyone else experienced these awful wiper blades? Bitchin' Camaro! Jonathan Hue Bitchin' Camaro! LMSC-Mechanisms & Servos Tire Tracks Across your Lawn! I have never have gotten a bad blade. I can only think of two possibilities. Either they had a bad lot, but it is a bit extreme for the rubber and the metal to both be bad, or second, they are counterfit blades. This is highly likely. Check the box to see if it matches the box of a genuine pair. Most counterfitters don't bother to match the details, just the general appearance. The justice department would like to know about these blades, but I think the Anderson Company would be the best place to seek recourse.

Yes! I bought some ANCOs at a service station for my knockabout Dodge and I'm amazed at how they streak first time, everytime. They won't stay flat on the window, either. I clean them and re-install them, but soon I'm gonna get somebody else's.

The ANCO wiper blades I bought for my Mazda have not worked right since I got them. I, unfortunately, bought the mechanical assembly as well as the blades. I have had some problem with black streaking. However, I have had more of a problem with trying to get the blade to clear the window properly. It doesn't seem to lay flat on the window. Another disastified ANCO customer !!! You can bet I won't buy another !

** I've found TRICO blades very satisfactory. Adding to the fray, let me say that I have had fair luck with Roberk blades and refills. (Anyone out there who HASN'T, please feel free to speak up.) These aren't highly expensive (maybe a couple of bucks for two refills or one wiper assembly). The replacement wipers are of some kind of tough black plastic, not metal, but they so far have held up just fine in Chicago's worst since the beginning of last winter. (And I figure if the rubber part slips loose, like they did on occasion with the original blades, the plastic body can't scratch the glass like metal could.) -- ------------------------------- Disclaimer: The views contained herein are | dan levy | yvel nad | my own and are not at all those of my em- | an engihacker @ | ployer or the administrator of any computer | at&t computer systems division | upon which I may hack. | skokie, illinois | -------------------------------- Path: ..!{akgua,homxb,ihnp4,ltuxa,mvuxa, vax135}!ttrdc!levy
