I am considering purchasing a NeXT and was wondering what size disk to get. I'm sure that the 105MB is too small as the Release 2.0 softwae eats up atleast 70MB. I need the machine for writing and running medium sized simulations in 'C'. ( Does the C++ even come with the Release 2.0 or do I have to get the Extended Software ? ) Also, I will be using it for large-scale matrix juggling. I might want to write or port a "MATLAB" style program to it. Thus, 1.) Is 200 Megs going to be enough ? 2.) Since I will be a standalone, is there much room to be saved by getting rid of some of the existing but not "too" applicable applications (i.e. Mail, etc.) 3.) Will I be terribly constrained with 8MB of memory in the beginning ? Any suggestions from veteran owners would be much appreciated ! thanx, greg cumber cumber@leland.stanford.edu
