[comp.sys.next] TeX3.0 and /or AMS-LaTeX

plampani@dpls (Patrick Lampani) (06/13/91)

Has anyone out there installed AMS-LaTeX on the Next yet. I tried the other
night and wasn't having a lot of luck.....

Also, has anyone worked with the new versions of AMSTex and TeX 3.0 which has
been released recently. Does it work on the NeXT and it is an improvement?

I have not initex-ed the AMS-Latex, on the NeXT (I have done it on
PC-s and Macs and on my HP-Bobcat without troubles, but following the
instructions for AMS-Latex very carefully), since I found it
easier to use LaTeX with the amsfonts.sty to use the amsfonts (which I
did install on the NeXT) and the cyrillic fonts. However, I have not
installed all the metafont sources yet, and have to use the standard
sizez available from e-math.com.

I have run some samples on the other machines under TeX 3.0 (you need
amstex 2.0 for this) and everything works fine. I have not done it on
the NeXT, to save space-time.
