Somebody please help, I have no clue what happened!! Here's the story: this morning, the power went, along with it the cube. Later today I rebooted the cube, it did a checking disk for quite awhile, then finally restarted again, and started up, just fine *apparently*. However, I'd known losses of power to end up nailing files before. So I was looking around, and noticed that I no longer have the little home icons for my home directories!! I figured that somehow the tiff file for those got nailed, but a find and diff of the .tiff's on the hard drive, and my 2.0 optical reveal exactly the same files. Or the icons some other format? What happened to my home directories???? As an also, does fsck print out to a file what it did, or not? I presume not since it's fixing the drive. I would like to be able to know what got trashed and what didn't when this kinda thing happens. thanks! -k
