I am looking into using a NeXT station for all-digital audio editing. I have spoken to the company's sound support expert, and was told that the following two products are what is currently commercially available: Singular Solutions A/D64X, digital in & out AES/EBU direct connect of digital sources. 2 channels of analog in. This box plugs into the DSP port. Meta Research's SoundWorks, an elementary sound mixer with some special effects (such as fading) and cross-fade promised for the next release. It has no real noise-reduction capability (such as being able to figure out a background hiss and subtract it from the foreground music or speech). I would seriously appreciate any and all advice on this issue, including comments on the above products, on any other related software or hardware (especially public-domain titles), and on audio editing on the NeXT in general. Please either post follow-ups or mail replies directly to me and I will summarize to this group.
