As I said, "I dunno not'n" 'bout sendmail. Nonetheless, I managed to go from the strange, uucp-hateful .cf files we received to stuff that works (with NO Internet; that might make them fail) in a fairly complicated network. Two different systems on our net have uucp relationships with different sets of systems. Our main mail handler is uunet, but stuff for systems within a hop of our site is sent to the appropriate Seattle system instead. One system in our company is not on the net but connected with uucp from an employee's home office. If any of this resembles what you've been trying to accomplish, I'll be happy to share what I've (successfully) done despite my lack of expertise. You will SURELY have to modify my .cf files to make any use of them, so they are no shortcut for the man who wishes to learn as little as possible. They are information, not the solution. Nonetheless, they seem to work well, send the mail the right way, deliver mail locally with reasonable headers to reply to, etc. In addition, I've fixed a few silly bugs. If you think the set might make your life somewhat easier -- bearing in mind that you'll still have to read the Sendmail Configuration & Installation Guide (or maybe Evi Nemeth's Guide to UNIX System Administration will be enough, I'm not sure) and do some work -- let me know and I'll figure out whether I should be posting the set, mailing it to you, or what. This is definitely an amateur hack, but it's better than anything else I've seen and I'm too old to be self-conscious. I've received a lot from others, and here's one whole-hearted (if half-capable) attempt to repay the Universe.
