Is anyone out there using a public-domain IBM 3270 terminal emulator for the NeXT? I've note that there's a package called tn3270 on ucbarpa.berkeley.edu, but the standard makefile starts out using sccs, etc. So before I tried to dig into this, I thought I'd see if someone out there had already done this and could save me the trouble! Is there some reason you can't use /usr/ucb/tn3270 which is shipped as standard software on the NeXT? I don't know if its in the 'Standard' version, but its provided with the 'Extended' full release. louie

I asked that. I *did* check the FAQ and NeXTAnswers, but I forgot to look at the man pages! tn3270 is on extended release of the OS. Thanks to all who pointed that out, especially those who didn't snicker. Tom Dr. Thomas B. On the NeXT, launch Terminal and type in "tn3270"

One thing you can do with these sources from ucbarpa is to see an example implementation of the transcom command (the -t option). These sources shows how to use tektools on a sun to process the data. I've written ps3270 for the NeXT which processes the data as PostScript by messaging Preview. Sources are in the NeXT archives.
