[comp.sys.next] dump/restore

Well, I got my Archive DAT drive today. Really neat drive. It's quiet, and
comes in sort of a mini shoebox.

It seems to work with tar nicely, although there is a long delay when I write
a tape for the first time.

However, when I do a 'dump 0us 65000 /dev/rsd0a', the tape seems to write
at an amazing 12 Megabytes a minute. But, when I try to read the data back
using restore, I immediately get a 'tape IO error'.

Talking with some friends leads me to belive that perhaps the tape is blocking
data at 512 bytes, and dump expects 1024 byte blocks.

Any ideas ??

Thanks,
brian
