I read something interesting in the latest Motor Trend. Remember when the EPA was lowering CAFE requirements about six months ago and Chrysler chairman Lee Iacocca was screaming bloody murder about how unfair it was that his company met CAFE requirements and that GM and Ford were getting a break for breaking the law? Well, the list of cars that will receive the "Gas Guzzler Tax" is in, and three domestic cars are having fines levied against them: The Chrysler Fifth Avenue, the Dodge Diplomat, and the Plymouth Gran Fury. Ford and GM may have lower than necessary averages, but at least their hoggiest gas hogs get decent mileage as land yachts go, and aren't being fined. Good going, Lee. -- ______________________________________________________________________________ Earle A.
