[comp.sys.next] Help with floppy disks

rabe@beowulf.acc.stolaf.edu (brett m rabe; Jiffy Script Inc.) (06/27/91)

Hello. My site has received our version of Lotus Improv on
floppy disk. That's wonderful, but we have no NeXT with
floppy drives. . . just some optical drives. Sigh.

2 questions:

    1) We have Sparcstation 2's, Macintosh (with both high density
and 'regular' (?) density drives), and pc's. . . any way to
get it off of one of those?
	2) Anyone out there willing to uuencode it and email the stuff
to me, or let me ftp it, or ftp it here for me, or whatever?

Please email.

Thanks,

Brett

I think we need to support NeXT developers by refusing to send someone a
commercial application just because they *say* they have purchased it. I
suggest that those of us who are FD-less but OD-ful cooperate with one another
by providing copies of software on OD for those who have purchased the same
software on floppies. I would be willing to provide a copy of Improv to Brett
if he sends me an OD with return shipping prepaid and proof of purchase of
Improv.

Art is completely correct. There is no proof that indeed
we have purchased Improv (actually, we HAVEN'T --- we're getting
it because of the standard 'order your upgrade by etc, etc, and
Improv will be sent to you' offer), and people probably shouldn't
be making it available for anyone that asks. . . My apologies
for asking people out there to do that. I wasn't really thinking
when I posted. . .

It frustrates me that only FD is/are being provided. . . sigh.

Thanks,

Brett

That will be true for many, many, many more things in the future, for
better or for worse. I think you should buy a floppy disk drive. After
all, Improv is FREE. Would you ship a free product on $150 worth of
optical disk media?
