I have been impressed with the big names that are involved in
the upcoming NeXT system : CMU, Mitch Kapor, and Stephen Wolfram
to name a few.
I have not seen the name Richard Stallman connected with the
NeXT and I find this surprising in light of the following facts:
1.) In the GNU Manifesto, Mr. Stallman writes that GNU will be
aimed at machines in the 68000/16000 class.
2.) Somebody posted a progress report to gnu.announce and thanked
various corporate sponsors for donations of equipment. NeXT
was the only company mentioned that made a cash donation.
(Sorry, but I cannot quote the original article- it was
deleted from our archives.)
