  Sony makes the disc (or disk?) drive and NeXT developed the 
controlling circuitry for it. There are more details in the Sept. 26
issue of Info World.

  Sony officially announced their magneto/optical drive last week.

They said they'd worked with Canon to develop it, and gave the
impression that it was developed specifically for NeXT, though
they didn't go into much detail.

Canon provided the technology.
