I think it would be nice to have a built in phone interface. Not only would this simplify the simulation on a modem, but it would enable to NeXT to become the worlds most expensive answering machine. It could answer the phone, play a digitized message, and then digitize the persons message over the phone line. Pretty neet. I suppose the it would be easy enough to built an interface that plugged into the audio in/out. --Rob.

<...a built in phone interface... would enable to NeXT to become the worlds most expensive answering machine. With that DSP chip's help, it would only be a matter of software to make an interactive answering machine, e.g.: "Press 1 to request information, 2 to place an order, 3 press 3 to...", etc. :::::: Software Productivity Technologies -- Experiment Manager Project :::::: :::::: Jan Steinman N7JDB Box 500, MS 50-383 (w)503/627-5881 :::::: :::::: jans@tekcrl.TEK.COM Beaverton, OR 97077 (h)503/657-7703 ::::::
