This is the one I prefer. Get rid of *any* reference to "floppy" since there's probably nothing floppy about it. The reasoning behind suggestion "8" is that there is only ONE kind of machine in the world that can use the thing, so why not recognize it? Similar reasoning applies to "9", but commemorates the man who brought this wonder to life. There is precedent for that kind of thing, but unfortunately, as soon as technology named for its inventor or the company that developed it disseminates, more generic terms come into use. Did you know, for example, that at one time common benchtop voltmeters were called "Fluke meters"? Or that the phone company used to be called "Bell".
