I have made some changes to the code in SORT.EL to allow sort-columns to run on VMS. The call to call-subprocess-region has been changed to sort-subr with the appropriate change in arguments. The code no doubt is a bit slower for large files than it would be on unix, but that's somewhat moot since it otherwise wouldn't run on vms at all. If there is interest, I'll post the unix style ``diff -c2'' file.
