Make 3.05 does not remove intermediate files, at least not always. When making foo.o from RCS/foo.c make fails to remove the intermediate file foo.c, contrary to what the manual states (section 9.4). I also have an ancient version of GNU Make (version number unkown, but I think it is from February '88) that does the right thing in this situation. Current version seems to be 3.13 or higher, so maybe this has been fixed already. Svante.Lindahl@front.se
