I'm having a problem with GNU tar, version 1.05, when trying to create multi-volume archives using the "M" option. This problem is so basic that I'm sure it must be a case of my not understanding TFM, but I just don't seen it. Can anyone out there tell me (via e-mail, unless someone else out there also wants to see it,) what I'm doing wrong? (Trivia Fans: I'm running on a Sun-3, version 3.5 SunOS, xt tape drive) below is the script: ---------------------------------------------------------------- # ./tar -cvM /usr.MC68020/gwsun ./tar: Removing leading / from absolute path names in the archive. usr.MC68020/gwsun/ usr.MC68020/gwsun/lost+found/ .. .. lots of file names .. .. .. usr.MC68020/gwsun/gwu/3-89/nd/ndl4 usr.MC68020/gwsun/gwu/3-89/nd/ndl6 ./tar: write to /dev/nrmt8 short 10240 bytes # ---------------------------------------------------------------- Many Thanks, John
