I'm looking for a new car stereo system for my new Scirocco 16V and I'm
having a hard time finding one which meets my requirements.
Here's what I'm looking for:
* Dolby B and Dolby C
* Digital tuner
* Removable chassis (e.g. kenwood 838)
* Aux input for portable CD player
I can't use a Benzi box because there isn't enough room in the
Scirocco between the radio and the shift knob when it is in 1st or 3rd
gear.
I would prefer an aux input for the CD player so that I could use the
head's balance, fader & tone controls, but that requirement could be
eliminated if the unit didn't have an internal amplifier. Then I
could have a switch which switched the CD player directly to the
external amps.
I have seen two units which meet the above criteria -- the Soundstream
TC-308 and the Denon 5420. Neither are currently available in the
Boston area and I can't find mail order outlets. I really like the
Kenwood 838, but it has no CD input.
Does anyone know of any other unit which meets the above criteria?
