[gnu.utils.bug] getline bug in gawk 2.10

lacey@batcomputer.tn.cornell.edu (John Lacey) (07/05/89)

This is a bug report, for gawk version 2.10. I'm using gawk on
a Gould running UTX/3.2. This is BSD 4.3 compatible as far as
I can tell.

The problem is this:

	getline <filename

hangs if 'filename' does not exist, rather than returning a -1. The
context I am using this is

	if (getline <filename > 0)
		:
	else
		:
