I've been playing with make version 3.43 and have a problem using an existing makefile. It appears that when make spawns a sub-processes all of make's variables are placed into the new environment of that process. Unfortunately, they require more environment space than the system allows (a tahoe running CCI's System V port), so the routine gives me strage results (I deduced this by ifdef-ing out the code in the routine 'new_environ'). Question: if this is a bug in gnumake, has it been fixed in a newer version? If it is, how can I get a copy of the new version (I have no ftp access currently). Thanks in advance! Thomas V.
