Has anyone descended thru the 'Dungeons of Doom' picking up nothing but food and gold? If so, have they found the coveted 'Amulet of Yendor' and returned to the surface a Total Winner? I have found that one needs two things to be guaranteed a Total Winner - a scroll of genocide (to do away with UHs) and a Magic Arrow (+13000,+13000 more or less) to kill the other monsters. Skill, of course, is of the mental type in this game (it's inter- active but not real time). Perhaps it is the skill of figuring out things the Guide doesn't tell you. Various strategies suggested seem to depend upon a certain amount of luck and don't work in every case (read game).

A magic arrow is certainly not needed. I just had a game (I did not win) where I slaughtered several famed Purple Worms with a mere two handed sword with only 17 strength (I did have 1 ac armor though)
