I am appealing to someone on the net for help or enlightenment.
I have currently achieved my deepest penetration of the Dungeons
of Doom at level 39. Here is the problem. I have explored all of
the level except for two rooms. Whenever I try to enter either
of these rooms I suddenly find myself kicked out of the game with
all my enviornment variables apparently still left in the "rogue
mode",( no echo mode, etc.). The heart of the problem is that the
stairs must be in one of those rooms, so I can't go up or down.
I don't have a scroll or ring of teleportation to use. I've tried
throwing things into the room first with no luck. I have run out
of ideas and if I hang around too long an Umber Hulk is sure to
come around to pound the s**t out of me. If anyone has any ideas,
please let me know. I have a bad feeling that I've stumbled onto
a bug and there is no way out.

My thanks to everyone on the net who replied to my request
for help on level 39. As so many of you pointed out, I was having
Dragon trouble. The problem of the un-enterable room was solved
by dropping an object on the last space before trying to enter the
room. As soon as I did this I was able to walk right in and dispatch
the dreadful beastie.
