Just when I started to prefer gdb over dbx, I needed to switch to Sun's C++. Does anyone know if Sun's object extensions that chokes gdb will be supported? Here is an example: bash$ gdb strtest GDB 3.2, Copyright (C) 1988 Free Software Foundation, Inc. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY for GDB; type "info warranty" for details. GDB is free software and you are welcome to distribute copies of it under certain conditions; type "info copying" to see the conditions. Reading symbol data from strtest...done. Type "help" for a list of commands. (gdb) b main Reading in symbols for main.c...Invalid symbol data:\ unrecognized type-code `c' at symtab pos 19. (gdb) quit I guess I could try the latest gdb. This consistent history interface provided by readline is addicting. -- Francis Sullivan Sunquest Information Systems Tucson, AZ email: francis@sunquest.com or sunquest!francis@arizona.edu or {uunet, arizona}!sunquest!francis
