I have often wordered how hard it is to get out of the dungeon after you have found the amulet. Let's say that you found the amulet on a level ( > 22 ) and you start making your way back up through the dungeon. Do the VERY NASTY nasties follow you back up? ie, could you encounter a dragon or a worm on level 5? Or is it a cake walk once you have found the amulet? Tom Peschman uidcsvax!uicsovax!peschman

I've seen somebody find the amulet on level 23 and take two hours to get up, going as low as level 35 or so.

When going up, the monster table reverses itself. I.e. if a monster starts on level 3 and dies off at level 13, then it will appear at level 13 on the way up and die off at level 3. This means that once you are past level 18 (Umber Hulks) on the way up, things get much easier (by then, you should be able to deal with Xorns and Trolls)
