#R:sdchema:-18200:uiucdcs:9500060:000:1172 uiucdcs!mcewan Oct 20 22:06:00 1982 How 'bout this one: I made it to level 26 for the first time ever in a 5.2 game (I've had a couple of wins at 4.2) armed with: a +0,+2 2 hander +2 splint mail a ring of slow digestion 6 rations of food a scare monster scroll and not much else. Experience level 10, strength 24. I didn't really expect to live too long after I used the scare monster, which I'd probably have to do soon, but I started looking around for the amulet. Found a wand of polymorph. Walked into an empty (except for staircase) room with no other exits. As I was leaving, I bumped into a vampire. Polymorphed it into a dragon. Polymorphed IT into a purple worm. Now I was down to about 12 hits, so I dropped the scare monster and started wading into the most incredible stream of monsters. Every time I finished off a group of monsters I'd do "100." and there would be 6 or 7 monsters queued up, waiting to be executed. I must have killed over 30 P's. When I stepped off the scare monster I was level 16 with over 160000 experience and 97 hit points. With no magic left, I MADE IT!!! First time. Incidentally, has anyone else noticed that monsters seem to like to hang around the staircase?
