I have noticed this problem before, and a recent posting to gnu.utils.bug brings it up again. Why is there no gnu.util, where the various GNU utilities could be discussed? Questions about GNU-specific features, as well as up-to-date information of who is working on what, seem like they need a home. Perhaps gnu.chess could be incorporated into such a newsgroup. We now have a place to keep non-programming issues (gnu.misc.discuss) out of the way of technical topics. Why not include a place for user questions and queries, as well as minor announcements from programmers supporting the GNU project by supplying software, out of the way of bug reports? P.S. If a single statement can change a program, can a single programmer change the world?
