[gnu.announce] GNU topics only, please!

bob@ALLOSAUR.CIS.OHIO-STATE.EDU (Bob Sutterfield) (09/22/88)

[Since the issue discussed here is entirely a newsgroup issue, this is
an attempt to crosspost to several GNU newsgroups in such a way that
this message won't be gatewayed to any of the corresponding mailing
lists. Sorry if it does turn up on the lists. If so, I'll look more
closely at the gateway setup before another try. --Bob]

Please remember not to crosspost into any gnu.* newsgroups in any
context where you are addressing non-GNUish subjects. The gnu.*
alternative newsgroup hierarchy is really just an extension of the
GNU-specific mailing lists based mostly at prep.ai.mit.edu, and, as
such, should not carry traffic related to things other than GNU
programs, bugs, and issues. As a case in point, Emacses other than
GNU Emacs are not an appropriate topic of discussion in gnu.emacs.

                                   Cordially,
                                   --The Maintainers of the GNU
                                   Mailing Lists & News Gateway
                                   (GNU's Not Usenet)
