What does it mean when (a) a missile touches the ground and disappears; (b) a burst from a wand/staff of magic missiles vanishes in a puff of smoke? (a) happens sporadically for no apparent reason (I didn't find any traps in the area) and (b) happens when you shoot an umber hulk. Do monsters have magic resistance, as in AD&D? Tim Maroney unc!tim
