Apple-Microsoft lawsuit agenda set
San Francisco --- Barring the possibility of an out-of-court
settlement, a resolution of Apple's copyright infringement suit
against Microsond Hewlett-Packard could be more than a year away.
According to the schedule recently set by federal Jusge William
Schwarzer, hearings in the next phase of the lawsuit will not be held
until April of 1990. The new schedule specifies that discovery in
this phase, which concerns the validity of Apple's visual display
copyrights, will end on Jan 15, 1990.
Schwarzer said during the hearing that he hoped the schedule would
motivate the litigants to work toward a settlement. According to
sources, Microsoft and Apple have discusses an out-of-court settlement
off and on since the case was filed in March of 1987 but have each an
agreement.
Make of it what you will..
