Several postings from Mitel in Ottawa have been creeping out with bogus return addresses. The most recent was this in can.general: ---------- Path: me!jarvis.csri.toronto.edu!utgpu!attcan!lsuc!nrcaer!sce!spock!sheriffp From: sheriffp@spock (Peter Sheriff) Newsgroups: can.general Subject: Merry Christmas. Message-ID: <1751@limey> Date: 22 Dec 89 16:59:31 GMT Reply-To: sheriffp@spock (Peter Sheriff) Distribution: can Organization: Mitel. Kanata (Ontario). Canada. Lines: 4 ---------------Body deleted-------- If I was to reply to "user@spock" from UofT, I would get the following path from the database from utai: neat.cs.toronto.edu!uunet!kddlab!spock.csl.sony.jp which is on the wrong side of the planet. The map entry for "spock" is different: #N spock #S DEC VAX-11/750; 4.3 BSD UNIX #O Choate Rosemary Hall #C Joel Slotkin #E spock!usenet #T +1 203 269 7722 x514, +1 203 284 5514 #P P.O. Box 788, Wallingford, Connecticut 06492 #L 41 27 N / 72 50 W #R a student-run high school computer center #U yale #W spock!paul (Paul Parry); Thu May 13 14:45:22 EST 1988 # spock yale(DIRECT), a3bee2(DIRECT), mejac(EVENING), decwrl(EVENING) ---------- Perhaps the Mitel people can get things sorted out? Choosing a unique site name and entering it in the maps would fix things quite a bit. -- Doug Eastick UUCP: uunet!utai!me!eastick Mechanical Engineering eastick@me.utoronto.ca
