While playing a game of rogue 5.2 the other day, I chanced upon a ring of maintain armour ; I couldn't find any documentation on this, and was wondering if anyone could tell me more about it, e.g. whether it uses up food, whether it can be cursed, etc. Saumya K. Debray (Attila the Injun)

It can't be cursed (apparently), but it burns up lots of food. If an R gets next to you, you can oftentimes slap the ring on before he/she gets a chance to hit you and thereby conserve food & armor.

If I have a slow digestion ring and the second best armor isn't very good, I'll wear the best armor and the ring constantly. In any event, on the way back up (if I make it) I wear the best armor and the ring.
