[gnu.emacs.gnus] gnus ignoring .newsrc during virgin startup.

eclam@grand.waterloo.edu (Edmund C. Lam) (10/27/88)

When I start gnus for the first time, it subscribes me to the whole
active list, and appends the news groups which were found in .newsrc
to the end of the newsgroup window. As a result, it takes forever to
prime gnus during a cold start.

Is their anyway to enhibit this behavior?

After starting up, please unsubscribe newsgroups which is added using
`u' command of GNUS Group mode.

The next release of GNUS will understand `-n' option of options line
in .newsrc file. For example,

	options -n !talk talk.politics

will ignore talk.* except for talk.politics.* while adding new
newsgroups.
