grout%cadillac.cad.mcc.com@MCC.COM (Steve Grout) (11/15/88)
Have received gnus 3.10 5-part shar files, bytecompiled gnus, nntp, and
nnspool, meta-x loaded gnus.elc, and then did meta-x gnus. The title
header comes up ok, gnus reads my ~/.newsrc file for a while and then
aborts with the following message:
wrong type argument, stringp, nil
Any ideas?
tnx for any help you can give...

I just installed 3.10--very quick, worked the first time. Maybe
something got mangled in your copy?

I had the same problem and fixed it by setting the gnu-nntp-service
variable to another value. The only difference to your problem was a
value not-equal to nil.
I hope it helps.

Set variable debug-on-error to t, load gnus.el (not gnus.elc), and
then do M-x gnus. Emacs will pop up a debug buffer if something is
wrong. If you get it, please send me a copy of the buffer. I need more
detail information.
