Well, I guess I've found a bug in 5.2 Rogue. It is fairly complicated, but bit me nevertheless: 1) I was playing over a modem. 2) I had just moved down a level, and as I popped up at the next level, there was a monster (an 'H' or 'G', unalarming), but I mistyped and stepped back against a wall. The program froze up on me, not allowing anything but an interrupt. 3) I hung up the phone, causing the program to save itself. (Actually, I called in on another line, and did a kill -1, but this is a bug in our local system.) 4) I started playing again. When the games came up, I moved and saw that I had been standing **inside** a wall. Distressing. I proceeded to polish off the many monsters and explore the level. 5) After I had explored all rooms, there was an area where the must have been one or two rooms, so I started searching the walls. I spent about 1000 moves searching various walls. 6) I then discovered that I had a scroll of magic mapping, which I read, and which showed me a maze and another room in the area in question. The program then merrily responded with 'Memory Fault', and died, without reseting my terminal characteristics or anything. I realize that this probably isn't much help, and I am not expecting an answer. I just thought that you might like to know. S. McGeady Tektronix, Inc.
