Apologies in advance if this has already been discussed. With GNUS 3.11 I've noticed that there is a non-intuitive (to me at least) display of information on both the subject and article buffers' modelines. Does anyone else find it awkward that the subject of the currently selected article is displayed on the subject buffer's modeline, and the name of the newsgroup is displayed on the article buffer's modeline? I must admit that I would find it a lot more helpful if the subject appeared on the article buffer's modeline, and the name of the newsgroup appeared on the subject buffer's modeline. -- -- ange -- ange@hplb.hpl.hp.com

I agree that the mode-lines are less than optimum. I end up having two indications of the subject one line away from each other. The mode-line stuff I am currently using, though, keeps the *Subject* line the way it already was and just diddles with the *Article* line. It currently says: --- GNUS: gnu.emacs.gnus 1 more 7:28am 0.04[2] (GNUS Article)--71%--------- I like to have the time information there as it tells me a lot (including when I have mail), the percentage is actually how much is left to display of the article, not how much is above the top of the screen (that is, if you have 20 lines displayed at the top of a 40 line article, it says "50%" not "Top"), and article numbers don't mean much to me ... how many I have left in the group is a better reference for my decisions. What I intend to do if I ever get around to it are to switch the current Article mode-line that I have with the Subject mode-line but leave the % in the Article line. That to me makes the most sense.
