[gnu.emacs.gnus] A nil organization

tale@pawl.rpi.edu (David C Lawrence) (07/01/89)

There is a "feature" which crept into GNUS 3.12 that was not there
previously. Basically, it will not let you have no organization,
because if you do than it won't post your article, complaining that
some args (for substring) are out of range.

The way I was setting things so I could have no organization was
simple ... "setenv ORGANIZATION". I could also set
gnus-your-organization to an empty string for the same effect.

The fix is also simple. On line 547 of gnuspost.el simply append
" (string< "" organization)" to the "(and (stringp organization)".
Later on in that same file, at line 561, open a line and insert
"((string= "" organization) nil)".

No more error messages (for this, at least).
