Whenever I post a message using the GNUS posting software I have a strange thing happen (it may or may not happen with this message: murphy would dicatatethat it NOT happen...:-) : The message that is posted seems to have its linesconcatenated in places, and ends of catenated lines. Why does this happen? Is it something I did wrong when I installed GNUS? Or is it some variable I have not set correctly? Or what? It seems that this problem continues across paragraph boundaries, but I might be wrong. These two sentences are supposed to be in their own paragraph. Can anyone help? -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Thomas Russo | russo@chaos.utexas.edu | |Center for Nonlinear Dynamics, University of Texas at Austin | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+

As you can see, the message DID get garbled. Any hints? -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Thomas Russo | russo@chaos.utexas.edu | |Center for Nonlinear Dynamics, University of Texas at Austin | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+

Try typing M-x auto-fill-mode before you type in your article... Deven -- Deven T. Ok. Here we go. This is done with auto fill mode ON. I really don't believe that that is the solution, since I had done M-x fill paragraph on every paragraph in that message to begin with. But we'll see if this works. Here's another problem I've been having: mini-inews doesn't seem to like it when I post a follow-up article from GNUS. Always coughs and complains that "no title" or some such slovos. Anyone ever seen such nonsense before? Of course, initial posts always work... -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Thomas Russo | russo@chaos.utexas.edu | |Center for Nonlinear Dynamics, University of Texas at Austin | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+

header, because it seems that this is what is causing mini-inews to choke? As it is, I can move it manually, but that is an inideal solution, at least from a system-manager's point of view. Anyway, this message will probably be eaten except for this line. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Thomas Russo | russo@chaos.utexas.edu | |Center for Nonlinear Dynamics, University of Texas at Austin | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+

have been something to this effect: Yeah, auto-fill mode did the trick, but WHY??? and Is there any way to get GNUS to put the in-reply-to at the end of the header, because it seems that this is what is causing mini-inews to choke? As it is, I can move it manually, but that is an inideal solution, at least from a system-manager's point of view. Anyway, this message will probably be eaten except for this line. ---------- so is this the reason so many posters have several lines of garbage at the top of every message with things like "INEWS FODDER" or some such garbage? It is VERY irritating. I'm terribly sorry for taking up so many messages with this crud, but I really would like to know why GNUS/inews or whatever is eating my messages. My users would like to post as well, and it is to me they'll come screaming if this happens to them. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Thomas Russo | russo@chaos.utexas.edu | |Center for Nonlinear Dynamics, University of Texas at Austin | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+
