[gnu.emacs.gnus] Gnus or Gnews? Which is which?

OK, so is there a difference between Gnus and Gnews?  (Sorry if this is
an ignorant question).  If there is which is "better"?  What is the
latest version (I am using Gnews 2.0) and where do I get it?
