[gnu.emacs.gnus] reading mail using gnus

arie@THEORY.LCS.MIT.EDU (Arie Rudich) (12/08/89)

Hi,
I have been using gnus for more than a month now and like it very much.
So much, that I would like to use it to read my mail.
Has anyone extended gnus to replace RMAIL ?
I would love to have a newsgroup "mail.myname".
If possible, I would love my mail to be sorted into
"mail.maillist1", "mail.maillist2",... for mail to mailing lists I'm on,
and possibly "mail.from.sender1" for specified senders.

Thanks,
	Arie

I have been using GNUS as my combined news/mail interface since about
last February or so. My scheme to do this requires that you read news
with a local spool area, however, so it may not work in its current
form at MIT. You can find the original posting about it archived in
tut.cis.ohio-state.edu:pub/gnu/gnus/mail-n-news.Z.

Modifications to my scheme to support NNTP news with locally-stored
mail would be most welcome.

It's most pleasing to have a natural separation between
"personal.general," "list.mach," and "mailer-daemon." Half the job of
classifying my mail appropriately is done before I ever see it.
