[uw.csc] ACM East Central Scholastic Programming Contest -- Hard data!

tbvanbelle@watcgl.waterloo.edu (Terry Van Belle) (09/21/89)

Now that we actually have some information about the ACM East Central
Scholastic contest, we'll pass it on to you.

The contest this year is being held on Wright State University's main
campus in Dayton, Ohio, on 4 November 1989. They have room for a maximum
of 60 teams consisting of up to four people and 2 `alternate' members. If
they don't receive 60 applications by the deadline (Oct. 6) they will
accept a second team.

Positions on the team are open to all students with at least a half-time
load at the university competing, and co-op students on work terms are
also eligible to compete.

The languages for this year's contest will be VAX FORTRAN V5.2 (ugh!) and
VAX Pascal V3.9 (double ugh!). The machine used will be a DEC VAX 6320.

Since we're running extremely short on time, we are probably going to
select the team(s) at our organisational meeting next Monday in the CSC
office (MC3036/7) at 17h00. We're still looking for a faculty advisor,
so please drop by. Tell anyone who might be interested, we do want to
send a competitive team despite the time constraints.
